Thousands bid goodbye to Nirankari sect's head Baba Hardev Singh

Last rites of spiritual leader and Sant Nirankari Mission head, Baba Hardev Singh, who died in a road accident in Canada on Friday, was performed in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Hardev Singh died earlier in a car crash in Canada and his body was flown back to India to enable his followers to have a last look of him.

Devotees joined the funeral procession of departed Sant Nirankari Mission head Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj as it proceeded towards the Nigam Bodh Crematorium Ground.

Sant Nirankari Mission have also arranged the proceedings of 'Antim Yatra', which was covered from 8 am to 12 noon. A Shradhanjali Samaroh' was also arranged from 4 pm onwards.

Baba Hardev Singh was born on February 23, 1954 in Delhi to Gurbachan Singh and Kulwant Kaur. He did his early schooling at Rosary Public School. He was also a student of Delhi University. In 1971, he joined the Nirankari Sewa Dal as its primary member. He married Savinder Kaur in 1958. After the assassination of his father, Gurabachan Singh, who was also then head of the Sant Nirankari Mission in 1980, he succeeded as the 'Satguru' of the organisation.
