Nawaz Sharrif (21), a resident of Tippunagar, said, "I was rolling up the ganja to smoke when these two people came and asked if they could also smoke it. So, I gave it to them. I've never met these people before."
"My house is just down the street. I got the ganja from K R market," he added.
The other two men said they travelled to Bangalore from Kolar to sell grass for cattle with Eid-ul-Adha around the corner. Both men, Imran Basha (20) and Rehan Sharrif (21), denied knowing Nawaz and claimed they didn't know he was smoking ganja.
Basha, said, "He is lying. We asked him if it was a cigarette, he said yes and that's why we took it. We have come to Bangalore to only sell grass for cattle. Nothing else."
The finger-pointing soon turned into a fist fight and cops had to lathi charge them before taking them to theu00a0 police station.
Head Constable Lakkappa, said, "We were patrolling the streets when this happened. We're not sure where the ganja came from and we still don't know where the rest of it has gone."
The three men were strip-searched once they arrived at the station, but policemen failed to find anything illegal on them.
Earlier, just down the street from where this incident occurred, cops had to forcefully shut down a bar and restaurant that was operating post deadline.
