Trying to escape client's wife, call girl falls off 3rd floor, dies

If a person’s wife is knocking on the door when he’s in bed with a call girl, chances of his getting out of the situation unscathed are rather remote. After stalling for an hour, 54-year-old Surendra Harischandra Chauhan thought he saw a window, or rather, a balcony of opportunity. The fact that his flat was on the third floor led to the strategy ending in disaster.

According to police, the incident took place in the wee hours of Friday at building no 266, flat no 8, third floor, railway colony, Parel. The accused, Surendra Harishchandra Chauhan (54), had invited a call girl to his house as his wife had gone to visit her parents. She unexpectedly returned between 1 and 2 am and knocked on the door.

“Chauhan’s wife knocked for almost an hour, but fearing he would have to face her wrath, he did not open the door. Since his wife was aware of Chauhan’s character, she suspected something amiss and locked the door from the outside,” said a police officer.

Height of idiocy
At about 2 to 2.30 am, Chauhan made a plan to escape through the balcony. He tied two bed sheets together and asked the call girl to climb down first. In trying to do so, her hands slipped and she fell from the third floor. At about 7 am, someone saw her lying in a pool of blood and informed the police control room.

Bhoiwada cops rushed to the spot and found her unconscious. Police took her to the nearby KEM hospital, but doctors declared the woman brought dead. “We have arrested Chauhan under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of IPC. He will be produced in court on Saturday,” said Vikram Patil, senior inspector, Bhoiwada police station. Chauhan is employed in Parel railway workshop as a foreman. The call girl, identified as Julie (45), was a resident of Sion Koliwada.u00a0
