Two labourers electrocuted in ice candy unit

Two labourers working at Janata Ice Candy Factory in Malwadi, Hadapsar, were electrocuted on Wednesday afternoon when they came in contact with a power source. The deceased have been identified as Vinodsingh Rajput (22), a resident of Hadapsar and Ramu Amarsingh Thakur (24), a resident of Moshi

The brothers of the victims lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar police station and factory proprietor, Prabhuram Kadwasara, has been booked for negligence under Section 304 (A) of the IPC.u00a0


The police said that the victims worked as labourers at the unit and came in contact with a power source in a large freezer on Wednesday. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. The unit was operational since the past five years and the owner had not informed the authorities.


“Fortunately, other workers outside the factory, thereby averting a major tragedy,” senior police inspector with Hadapsar police station, Pandharinath Mandhare said.u00a0
