Two men claiming to be Haryana cops try to enter hospital

Two tall, heavily built men yesterday trying to gain entry into Sancheti hospital, where 74-year-old anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare is admitted, resulted in the raising of a security alarm on the premises. Arriving in the afternoon on a scooter, the two told mediapersons they were from the Haryana Police and had come on duty "to serve Annaji".u00a0

But the Additional Director General of Police in Haryana told MiD DAY no one had been sent officially from Haryana for the purpose. ADG B S Sandhu of the Haryana Police said: "Temporary Constable Kishankumar and Simitkumar, a boxing player representing Haryana, had come to Pune. Kishankumar is the younger brother of Rohtas, who had gone to Jantar Mantar to participate in the agitation earlier.u00a0

Departmental inquiry is on against Rohtas. Regarding Kishankumar, action will be decided only after we receive factual report from Pune police."u00a0Earlier in the day, Kishankumar introduced himself to mediapersons as a boxer who claimed to have come for a national boxing camp which is being conducted at Balevadi stadium.

Later, officials of the Shivajinagar police station forced them into a police vehicle to be taken to the police station. DCP (Zone I) Dnyaneshwar Phadatare and Assistant Police Inspector Bhratbhushan Sharma, visited the police station and conducted an inquiry for more than two hours.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Bharatbhushan Sharma said, "The two were allowed to go after inquiry." Sharma added that they were interested in working as personal bodyguards for Hazare and had come to visit with this purpose in mind.u00a0

Dr K H Sancheti of Sancheti hospital said, "The hospital authority does not know about any such incident that happened. We aren't going to increase police strength as people may get inconvenienced. But we are increasing our personal security."
