In a gruesome accident yesterday, two persons were killed after being run over a lorry near Rajajinagar I Block near Vidya Vardhana Junction. The victims, Mahadevappa (55) and Yashodamma (50), residents of Moodalapalya were returning home after a pooja at 10 pm. The lorry hit their two-wheeler, and passed over their heads, killing them on the spot.

Mahadevappa's son Ravi Kumar said, "My parents had gone to a Mutt for a pooja and then to a relative's house in Malleswaram. The were returning home when the accident took place."
A relative who had come to the spot said, "I got a call from my sister saying that my uncle and aunt were no more. I immediately rushed to the spot but the bodies had already been shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital for post mortem."
Shantakumar, an eyewitness, said, "I was having my dinner at a nearby hotel when I saw the lorry hit their vehicle. The tipper vehicle didn't stop immediately, and it is understood that the cleaner was driving the vehicle."

Both bodies were lying in the hospital premises, but not shifted to the morgue even after four hours. The Malleswaram Traffic police have arrested the cleaner,and have registered a case.
