After signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Pune (UoP) in January 2013, and after yearlong discussions on various fronts, senior delegates of the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) visited UoP and interacted with top faculty yesterday
At the meeting it was decided that a joint collaboration centre will be set up soon at the International Students’ Centre of UoP to frame the future road map and to roll out various joint degree programs, student and faculty exchange and joint research projects expected to run under this MoU.

“Till now the discussion was only at the top administrative level. But for the first time the UoP faculty have been involved. In May, the first dedicated workshop for faculties of both universities will be held at the UoP campus,” said Dr W N Gade, vice-chancellor, UoP.
The chancellors of Penn State Hazleton campus Gary Lawler, Penn State Harrisburg campus Mukund Kulkarni and Vice-Provost for global programs Penn State University Michael Adewumi were present at the press conference.
When asked when the actual academic programs under this MoU will commence, Lawler said, “It will be a long term strategic partnership between both the universities. We have begun the process and within a year the actual product (programmes) will be rolled out.”
