The Union Bank of India has won the ACI Excellence Award 2011 for its project 'Customer Empowerment using ACI solution BASE 24' in the Payment Transformation category.
The Union Bank of India has won the ACI Excellence Award 2011 for its project 'Customer Empowerment using ACI solution BASE 24' in the Payment Transformation category. ACI Worldwide is a US-based company offering various payment system solutions. Lalit Sinha, General Manager (Alternate Channels), Union Bank of India, received the award from Paul Savage, Head America Operation-ACI at San Diego CA.

The Union Bank of India introduced ready kit debit cards, which are given to customers while they open an account and further extended self user creation for alternate channel services like internet banking, mobile banking and phone banking using card validation through BASE24.
The bank has also implemented self regeneration of PINs and passwords for its customers leveraging the same technology. This has empowered customers to be on their own to avail alternate channel services and has provided customers total freedom from paperwork, visits to branches and wait-in periods for PINs or passwords.
The implementation has been considered the most innovative use of its software solution by ACI Worldwide.
The Union Bank of India with more than 3,000 branches and 2,650 ATMs is rated as one of the tech-savvy banks in India. The bank is currently engaged in the Customer Service Excellence Project, which aims at bringing superior customer experience at all bank touch pointsu00a0-- its branches and all alternate channels.
