Market Yard store gets uninvited visitors within 24 hrs of Laxmi Rd dacoity attempt

Not even 24 hours had passed after Chhattisgarh-based gang struck Mahendra Jewellers off Laxmi Road, when a jewellery shop in Market Yard was looted by unidentified thieves. On Monday night, the robbers decamped with ornaments put on display in the Market Yard shop.

Harishkumar Suraramji Prajapati (32), owner of Laxmi Jewellers, has lodged a case against unidentified suspects at the Swargate police station. "He had shut the shop Mondayu00a0 night, but found the rear door lock broken yesterday morning when he returned," the police said.

The thieves stole four kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh and Rs 65,000 in cash. Prajapati alleged the shop was targeted despite heavy police presence in the area after the daylight dacoity attempt on Monday, but the police refuted his claims.
