Group of 25 people on Manmad-Pune train repeatedly pull chain; seven trains delayed

A GROUP of about 25 unruly passengers repeatedly pulled chains and stopped the Manmad-Pune passenger local, disrupting entire rail traffic on the route last morning. As a result, seven trainsu00a0- three passenger locals and four express trains - were delayed for an hour. Services were restored only by afternoon.






Public relation officer of the railways said the Hyderabad-Mumbai Express, Chennai- Mumbai Express, Nagpur-Pune and Nizamabad-Mysore Express, and Baramati-Pune, Daund-Pune and Solapur-Pune passenger locals were delayed for an hour.

"The Railway Police Force and Railway Protection Group officers in the city arrested 24 persons under sections 141, 145 and 174 of the Railway Act. They have been transferred to the custody of Loni police station," a railway official said.

"The crude behaviour of arrested passengers was uncalled for. Those arrested were questioned by the police in this regard, said Anilkumar Walbe, the railway PRO in Solapur.
