The Oshiwara police have formed three teams to launch a manhunt for 41-year-old Anuj Tiku and his two paying guests, who have been booked for the murder of his father. The 64-year-old Arun Tiku was found naked with multiple stab wounds in their Andheri apartment on Saturday night. On Monday, police conducted a second panchnama of the flats 101, 102, 103 of the Samarth Aangan building in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West), where the murder took place, with the objective of looking for clues that would lead them to the accused.

One of the paying guests has been identified as Simbe, whose elder brother works for the Pune police. The Mumbai cops are now liaising with him in search of clues to his location. Dilip Rupwate, senior police inspector of Oshiwara police station, speculated that tracing Anuj could be the only way to the two other accused. “We have not found anything significant which could help us trace the two,” he said.

Rupwate added, “The second witness told us that when he entered the house after hearing loud noises, he didn’t find Anuj. However, one of the two paying guests was lying under a blanket. When asked what was going on, the accused spoke from underneath the blanket, saying that it was an internal matter. The witness, however, saw bloodstains on his clothes. Suspecting foul play, he exited the house, but latching it from outside, called up the police.”

Cops have also spoken to Amit Tiku, Anuj’s cousin. Amit, a resident of Delhi, told the police in his statement that Anuj was mentally disturbed, and had been receiving treatment at a Jaipur based hospital for the past five years.“Arun uncle and Anuj stayed in different cities, which uncle did not like. He wanted his son to stay with him.

Arun uncle, who had a business in Nigeria, had retired and settled in a flat at Anand Vihar in Delhi, and wanted Anuj to sell his Lokhandwala flat and go stay with him in Delhi. Uncle had told him many times to sell his flat, but he didn’t want to leave Mumbai. They fought frequently on this subject,” Amit told the police. Rupwate said that the brutal murder on Saturday night could have been triggered by one such altercation.

According to cops, Anuj enjoyed the company of different women. Phone numbers of his many female friends have been recovered from his mobile phone, and they are being interrogated. Because of his dissipated lifestyle and his drug addiction, his father was even more keen that he move back to Delhi. “We suspect that Anuj fled after the murder, asking the two to dump his father’s body. However, after being spotted by the witness, the two paying guests fled the scene by jumping from the bathroom window,” added Rupwate.u00a0
