For the first time in its history, the Deputy Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council Puttanna was removed from his post last week by a no-confidence motion moved by the ruling BJP, bringing to fore its majority in the 75-member house.
The no-confidence motion was moved against Puttanna JD(S) for his alleged anti-government outbursts. BJP has a strength of 39 members, followed by Congress 17, JD(S) 15, JD(U) 1 and Independents 3.
