Isharya is what a lot of juxtaposition is all about. Not in the way a random mishmash is created, but in terms of how several inspirations blend together seamlessly. For once, the name of the jewellery brand is inspired from the names of the childrenu00a0-- Ishaan, Armaan and Aryau00a0-- of the two women behind it.

For another, these women, after having taken their Indian heritage-inspired jewels across the USA and having them find their way onto earlobes and fingers of those who drive the shutterbugs crazy, are finally stepping into our city next week. Just for three days though, mind you.
The result of sisters-in-law Radhika and Gauri Tandon, who combined their Eastern origins and Western design sensibilities, Isharya is a brand that might not have been heard of in the city (despite Gauri being Mumbai-based while Radhika lives in California). But it has been spotted on the likes of actresses like Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Vanessa Williams, singers Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson and model Linda Evangelista. "It is tougher to make your name in the international markets but we loved to pick up that challenge," says Gauri.
"But now that we have been accepted in the mainstream there, we are getting back to our roots here. We were initially scared of all the copycats that abound here but it doesn't matter any more."
At the stylish Colaba-based interiors and fashion store, Bungalow 8, you will be able to pick up statement-making Isharya jewels over the coming days. As part of their latest Spring / Summer collection, which has been showcased in the stores they supply to in New York and London, you will be able to pick up pieces from the Floating Brocade Collection (think Bollywood meets Mod Squad through chunky translucent resin bangles set with hand-crafted brocade fabric), Coin Collection (don't forget to check out the Cleopatra collection and the signature serpent detailing), Florentine Enamel (uses vibrant jewel tones like sapphire and emerald) and Druzy (mixes natural druzy agate stones into bib necklaces, combined with wood to create square bangles and rings).
"We love chunky, statement-making designs," says Gauri. "We are very inspired by the Indian heritage and royalty, but we are also having a lot of fun."
