It was a perfect weekend job for a gang of seven, who had a free run in the industrial hub around the city. They targetted companies that lacked security gadgets such as trespass alarms and CCTVs and then stole copper wires and aluminum parts worth more than Rs 30 lakh in a span of three months.

The gang of seven arrested for committing burglary in industrial hubs.

Police said not only was the arrested gang active in the city but also in other districts such as Ratnagiri, Thane, and Satara.

Those arrested were identified as Kapildev Chadrabali Dube (30), Nijam Majid Chaudhari (26), Umesh Rakesh Surindersingh (28), Shamal Samai Kevat (36), Subhash Chingut Yadav (29), Sunil Chandrabhan Singh (24) all residents of Uttar Pradesh and presently staying at Nalasopara in Thane along with a local merchant Jagdish Thakarram Bishnoi (32) of Chiplun in Ratnagiri district.

Describing the modus operandi of the gang Police Inspector Bhaushaeb Andalkar said: "The gang targetted industries and companies lacking security arrangements like trespass alarms and CCTVs.

The robberies were planned on weekends as the suspects could easily dodge the security guard and then steal copper wires and aluminum parts from the premises," Andhalkar said.
