A 40-Year-old woman was allegedly raped by her son's friend in the wee hours yesterday.
A resident of Alekar Wadi, Chinchwad, the victim was allegedly told on Tuesday night by the accused, Baba Saheb Shivaji Waghmare (25), that her son was critically ill after getting drunk and that he was in Ravet.
Hearing this she left for Ravet with Waghmare, who works as a driver with a company, in a white Indica. About midnight Waghmare, who was driving, allegedly took her to a stone-works factory in Ravet and raped her there.
He then allegedly threatened her that he would kill her son, whom he had known for a couple of years, if she opened her mouth about the incident.
But the victim still told her family and a complaint was lodged at the Chinchwad police station at 4 pm
yesterday.
Waghmare was arrested from his home. The woman and the accused were both sent to Sassoon hospital for medical tests, the results of which are awaited.
A senior official at the Chinchwad police station said, "We are questioning Waghmare. We are also waiting for the medical test results."
The incident comes just a week after a 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two jawans in Sanghvi.
