A 60-year-old woman, depressed over her chronic illness, committed suicide by hanging herself at her Malabar Hill residence yesterday morning.
Sudha Agarwal had been diagnosed with blood cancer, and was undergoing treatment for the last 10 years. Sudha’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan by her daughter-in-law when she didn’t open the door despite repeated knocks.u00a0

She lived with her businessman husband and other family members at Krishna Niwas building in Walkeshwar. According to the police, Sudha was undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital, Vile Parle and had recently undergone jaw surgery.
After a few days, she started experiencing acute pain in the jaw, and had approached a local doctor on Tuesday, as the pain became unbearable.
The doctor contended her to undergo another operation. Dejected with the fact that she will have to undergo another surgery, she hung herself.
Vinay Bagade, senior inspector at Malabar Hill police station, said, “She was suffering from blood cancer for 10 years. Depressed and irritated with her prolonged illness, she committed suicide.”u00a0
