Shimla: A 50-year-old woman was mauled to death by a wild bear in Solan district, 70 km from here, police said today.

The incident occurred at around 7.30 am in Naanihas village under Bagha Police station in Darlaghat area in the district, police said.
The victim, identified as Ram Pyari, was cutting grass in a nearby forest area when the bear, hiding behind bushes, pounced on her from behind and badly injured her, police said.
She struggled with the wild bear but finally gave in after she started bleeding profusely, they said, adding that she succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital.
The body has been sent for post mortem, they said.
