A 55-year-old woman was found murdered in posh Greater Kailash area of south-east Delhi on Friday evening.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Jogesh and she lived with her 70-year-old husband, Ajit Singh, her niece and a nephew.
No one at home
"Ajit is a financial consultant and he was in Mayur Vihar when the incident took place around 7 pm. Her nephew returned from work and found the main door of the house ajar. He then saw Jogesh lying on the floor of her room and informed the police," said a senior police officer.
He added that a PCR call was made around 7.10 pm and after that police immediately reached the spot. The body has been sent for post-mortem. "It seems she was strangled to death.
The house had been ransacked and it is also probable that the accused were looking for some property-related documents. The victim's children stay abroad and we have informed them about the tragedy. We are waiting for the post-mortem report," the official said.
A case was registered under the appropriate Sections of IPC. "Police are looking at the case from each and every angle and further investigation is on," he added.
