Following warnings from several numerologists about the dangerous number 27, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa skipped his first date with the court on Friday and is to appear tomorrow, but astrologers are understood to have warned against the number 29 as well.
The Lokayukta special court summoned Yeddyurappa, who is accused in multiple graft cases, to attend court on August 27 in one of the cases related to land scam filed by lawyers Sirajin Basha and K N Balaraj. This would have been his first attendance in the court, but his lawyers got exemption for him citing health issues. The court thereby posted the case for hearing today (August 29).
"He managed to avoid going to court on Friday and was actually down with fever. However, he can't avoid appearing today because the court seems to be serious about the issue," said a source close to him. While the High Court is expected to pronounce judgment on his anticipatory bail in the first half of tomorrow, Yeddyurappa's case will come before the Lokayukta special court in the second half. Also, the HC order will have bearing on the case in the Lokayukta special court.
Limited options?
"The order on the anticipatory bail petition is important. If he gets anticipatory bail, it will be fine. Otherwise, he is entitled to apply for regular bail in the lower court in the respective case. We are prepared for all eventualities," said one of his lawyers.
Yeddyurappa's arrest cannot be ruled out if the anticipatory bail petition is quashed in the HC and the Lokayukta special court rejects his application for regular bail. There are chances of the Lokayukta special court admitting the regular bail application and calling for objections from the petitioners of the case ufffd Basha and Balaraj.
In such case, Yeddyurappa will have a few days before possible imprisonment as an under trail. "The number 27, which adds up to 9 is an unlucky number for Yeddyurappa and it is good that he avoided going to the court on Friday. However, 29 is not a good number for him either and it is left to him and his lawyers to chalk out the plan," said K M Basavaraja Guruji, a numerologist.
Eerie haunting
Earlier, Guruji and other numerologists including Aditya Narayana, a personal advisor to Yeddyurappa on astrology, had noted that number the 27 was unlucky for the former CM. His birthday is on February 27, and interestingly the debacles he suffered recently occurred on days dated 27. His swearing challenge with former CM H D Kumaraswamy at the Dharmasthala shrine was on June 27, while the Lokayukta report on illegal mining, which indicted both former CMs was submitted on July 27.
And the first summons for Yeddyurappa was on August 27. While his lawyers said he would attend court today, Yeddyurappa was still in hospital yesterday. News on him suffering a loss memory was doing rounds, but sources at the Sagar Hospital said it was not serious issue. His actual complaints were hypertension, high fever and diabetes.
Numbered days?
Noted astrologer Ranganatha Joshi said that Yeddyurappa's planetary movements were adverse and he would face a tough time from September 4 onwards, He also did not rule out the possibility of a jail term. Yeddyurappa has summons from the court for September 3 related to an irrigation scam.
