On Monday, two candidates from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) filed nomination papers for the Nashik and Dindori constituencies for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Maharashtra, which are scheduled for the fifth round of general elections on May 20.

Parag Rajabhau Vaje of the Shiv Sena (UBT) filed twin nominations for the Nashik seat, while Bhaskar Muralidhar Bhagre of the Nationalist Congress Party (SP) did so for the Dindori constituency, reported PTI.

According to the report, Vaje organised a gathering to file his nomination for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, joined by Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.

Other contenders for the Nashik seat include Jayashree Mahendra Patil of the Sainik Samaj Party and Devidas Piraji Sarkate, who filed papers as both a Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi candidate and an independent.

Shantigiriji Maharaj, a spiritual guru, filed his nomination as a Shiv Sena candidate for Nashik despite the fact that his candidature for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 had not been officially confirmed by the party. He had previously registered as an independent candidate, the report added.

Notably, the Mahayuti alliance, which includes the Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP, has yet to announce a candidate for the Nashik Lok Sabha constituency.

Candidates have until May 3 to submit nomination forms, with the withdrawal deadline set for May 6. Voting for these seats will take place on May 20, the report added.
