The education board of the PMC is set to organise the first-ever grand-scale meeting of all mothers of students of PMC schools and teachers and education board officials.

PMC officials said the idea was mooted by NCP's Sangeeta Tiwari, the education board chief, and she has asked Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary, to chair the event.

The idea behind the event is to make mothers aware of the facilities and rights of children in civic schools, explain to them the role of education and encourage them to preventu00a0 early dropout cases.

The event is tentatively titled 'mata-bal' melava, or mother-child meet, and will be held either at the grounds of BJ medical College or PMC's Nehru Stadium.

About 80,000 students study in civic schools and rough estimates indicate that at least a lakh to 1.2 lakh people might attend the event.
