The director of an explosives factory along with its manager were arrested on Friday, a day after a blast at the unit located near Nagpur city of Maharashtra that killed six workers, an official said.
However, they were granted bail soon after arrest, on Friday.
Jay Khemka (49), director of Chamundi Explosives Pvt. Ltd., and factory manager Sagar Deshmukh were arrested and later produced in a local court, he said.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Hingna, granted them cash bail of Rs 50,000 each.
Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/modi-government-3-0-nitin-gadkari-and-nirmala-sitharaman-assume-ministerial-roles-in-new-govt-23353823" rel="nofollow">Union Minister Nitin Gadkari</a> visited the blast-affected factory along with officials.
"The factory management has assured to provide Rs 25 lakh to the families of each deceased, while the state government will give Rs 10 lakh to the kin of each victim," he said.
The factory is located in Dhamna village under Hingna police station limits, around 25 km from Nagpur city.
The blast occurred around 1 p.m. on Thursday. A total of nine injured people were admitted to two private hospitals in the city. Among the victims, five women and a man reportedly died during treatment, a police official said.
According to the reports from PTI, most of the victims were working in the factory's packaging unit when the explosion took place.
According to Hingna police station officials, a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substances), 304 (a) (causing death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act), and 338 (causing grievous hurt by doing any rash or negligent act) was registered against the director and the manager of the factory on Thursday night.
The Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, also visited the site. He said the guidelines prescribed for such factories should be strictly implemented. On Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at a closed <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-may-take-years-to-identify-dombivli-blast-victims-23354040" rel="nofollow">chemical factory in Dombivli</a> area of Thane district, said officials. The chief of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell Dipak Nikam told PTI that no casualty had been reported thus far and that there was an explosion at the chemical factory.&nbsp;
Nikam, told the news agency that thick smoke billowed from the chemical factory and was visible from a long distance.&nbsp;
Reportedly, the unit is located near Amudan Chemicals where a massive blast on May 23 killed 10 and left over 60 persons injured.&nbsp;
Speaking to the news agency, Nikam had mentioned that the fire erupted around 10 am on Wednesday at the chemical factory located in the Dombivli MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) area.
