Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, hours before the 8th round of talks between the Centre and the farmers protesting against the three new farm laws.

The meeting took place at Shah's 6A, Krishna Menon Marg residence here. The three leaders discussed various issues to break the impasse on the talks as the farmers' protest on the Delhi borders continued for the 44th day on Friday as the farmers remained adamant on the repeal of the "black and anti-farmer laws".

After the meeting with Shah, Tomar said he hoped that a resolution to the impasse would come out at the meeting with farmers.

The next round of talks with 41 farmer unions began at Vigyan Bhavan here around 2.30 pm. The seventh round of parleys on January 4 had remained inconclusive.

Tomar, Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Som Parkash are representing the Centre in the meeting attended by representatives of 41 farmer unions.

While the government is ready to make amendments in the three laws, the farmers are adamant on their repeal.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) General Secretary Harinder Singh, who was present during the seventh round of talks, told IANS: "The demands of the farmers will remain the same. We will urge the government to repeal the three farm laws. Then we will talk on the MSP issue."
