Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday to discuss the security situation in the Valley in the wake of the Amarnath terror attack on Monday and the regular ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
After the meeting, addressing the media, she blamed the unrest on "external forces". "External forces are involved in this fight. Their attempt is to spoil the atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir. Now, unfortunately, China has also started interfering." Mufti said the Amarnath attack was aimed at "disturbing communal harmony". "The enemy wanted to cause communal riots in the whole country by this attack," she said.
PDP MLA's driver held
A policeman serving as a PDP MLA's driver has been arrested in connection with investigations into the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims. Touseef Ahmad, a policeman from the security wing of J&K Police and Wachhi legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir's driver, have detained for questioning.
Shelling in Rajouri
An Indian Army jawan was killed on Saturday in firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani troops in Rajouri sector of the LoC in J&K, a defence spokesman said. Poonch resident Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer, 35, was hit when Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing around 1.30 pm," the spokesman said.
Kulgam grenade attack
A CRPF officer was injured when militants carried out a grenade attack in Kulgam district on Saturday. "Unidentified militants hurled a grenade at a patrolling party of the CRPF. A militant has been arrested and handed over to the Kulgam Police after he confessed to lobbing the grenade," a CRPF officer said.
