As India deals with the rising number of Covid-19 and Omicron cases, Union Health Secretary and ICMR DG Dr Balram Bhargava have written to chief secretaries of all states/Union Territories. The centre has asked states to set up round the clock functional RAT booths at different locations, engage medical and paramedical staff. and the use of home test kits should also be encouraged.

The letter further states that anyone with a fever, headache, sore throat, breathlessness, body ache, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, and diarrhoea should be considered as a suspect case of Covid-19 unless proven otherwise.

This advisory comes as India has so far reported over 1,200 Omicron cases and on December 31, 16,764 cases of coronavirus were reported.
