Ghazal maestro Jaswinder Singh

Billed as the most talented and sensational ghazal singer of today's Gen-X, Jaswinder Singh has a voice that is intoxicating. His forte has always been soft romantic ghazals. "They are simple and upbeat. I always try to perform in a way the new generation learns to appreciate this genre," says, Jaswinder. He believes in working hard to take this genre of music forward into the next century.

Jaswinder says, "I have heard that the audiences here are very receptive." He has also come out with a new concept called Ghalibnaama, that is based on Ghalib's letters and ghazals. He says, "Artists do the narration of Ghalib's letters and then I sing Ghalib's ghazals." He performed the same to a packed house at the Lincoln Center in New York and won quite a few accolades.

Presently, he is part of the Jalsa series on DD Metro, which is based on classical, light classical and Sufi ghazal bhajans. According to him, this show has become a super hit among music lovers. He has also launched a new album titled, 'Yeh Ishq Nahin Aasaan'.
