In another attack by Congress over employment under BJP government, Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said double engine government means "double blow" to the unemployed. He said this citing employment in Uttar Pradesh state.

In his post on X, Gandhi said that today every third youth of Uttar Pradesh is suffering from the "disease of unemployment". "Where more than 1.5 lakh government posts are vacant, and graduates, post graduates and PhD holders are standing in the queue even for the posts that requires minimum qualification. Double engine government means double blow to the unemployed" he said on X in his post in Hindi.

The former Congress President added, "Even if the recruitment is being done then the paper gets leaked. If the exams are held then the result is not known and even when the results are declared after a long wait. One often has to go to the court for ensuring his joining," he claimed.

"Lakhs of students have become over-aged after waiting for years for their recruitments from the Army, Railways etc," he said. "And being distressed by all this, when a student comes out on the streets with his demands, he/she gets batons from the police," Gandhi claimed.

"The policies of Congress will do justice to the dreams of the youth, we will not let their penance go in vain," he asserted.

The Congress' Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra entered Uttar Pradesh on Friday and will traverse through the state before entering Rajasthan. The east to west Manipur-Mumbai yatra will in all cover around 6,700 km and 15 states. The yatra aims to highlight the message of 'nyay' (justice) while meeting common people on the way.

The yatra is underway with twists and turns, and blows from Congress' own allies. In Uttar Pradesh also the Congress yatra faced issues.

The Congress on Saturday alleged that permission for its cameras to accompany Rahul Gandhi during his visit to the Kashi Vishwanath temple was cancelled at the last moment and said this was "pettiness" on the part of the Varanasi district administration, news wire PTI reported.

"All BJP leaders, when they come to offer prayers at Kashi Vishwanath temple, are allowed to enter with cameras. No cameras were allowed with Rahul Gandhi and till now no photos have been released by the administration," Uttar Pradesh Congress president told reporters.
