British journalist Piers Morgan termed India's Olympics medal tally an embarrassment. He then had a spat with author Chetan Bhagat on Twitter, which ended up as fodder for Twitterati to script their love story
TV host Piers Morgan almost broke the internet, at least in India, on Wednesday by making fun of the country for its wild celebration over winning two medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

He termed India's Olympics medal tally an embarrassment and that two for medals that weren't gold. Morgan also tweeted that it was 'shameful' that 1.2 billions couldn't produce a gold medallist.
HERE ARE HIS TWEETS:
Country with 1.2 billion people wildly celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that? https://t.co/FYSBM7ErAf

1,200,000,000 people and not a single Gold medal at the Olympics?
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) August 24, 2016
Come on India, this is shameful.
Put the bunting away & get training.
And this led to Indian Twitterati trolling him.
Indian writer Chetan Bhagat was among those who took on the Britisher. But the author got trolled himself by the journalist, who is known for his controversial tweets.
We honor achievers Peirs. Top 3 in the world, despite 3rd world sports facilities isn't loser. It is freaking amazing! https://t.co/pbFuP0Hmky
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) August 24, 2016
This led to a war of words on Twitter between Bhagat and Morgan.
Here is how it unfolded:
