Making sense of the good, bad and often strange trending topics online
It was inevitable the deluge of tweets following Amitabh Bachchan's announcement (via Twitter, incidentally) of his daughter-in-law's pregnancy.
For much of the day, timelines looked a lot like the street outside his home, where a couple of thousand people allegedly gathered for no apparent reason. While most comments were congratulatory, some attempted to be prophetic.
Someone called Gerica said the baby would be 'the best looking child known to man.' A certain Nitin had a message for 'the embryo inside Aishwarya: Mommy's genes, please.'

Divya Jain predicted 'breaking news on Ash and her pregnancy every week,' while Tony Tharakan had the best one: 'Bachchan Jr makes Bollywood debut in 2032.'
Boys will be boys
His to and fro involving the BJP, NCP, Sena and Congress got Gopinath Munde more attention in a week than his last couple of years in politics did.
A certain Visaraj spoke for a number of us though, when he tweeted: 'The Munde drama is turning out to be a mega serial. It's boring. Time for a climax.' Rahul Pandita offered him some advice: 'Munde should have a heart-to-heart talk with Narayan Rane before jumping on to the Congress bandwagon.'
For the people?
Anna Hazare you know who he is announced that his fast for a Lokpal Bill from August 16 was on, if Parliament did not pass the legislation by then.

Krishna Kumar pointed out: 'In the debate on whether the PM should be under the ambit of the Lokpal, the only person who has not said anything is the PM!'
Sharat Potharaju had this particularly pertinent comment: 'If the time Team Anna and the ministers spend on TV channels was spent drafting instead, we would have finished with the bill.'
The last word
I quote the Dalai Lama: 'If we want spiritual development, the practice of patience is essential.' Chew on that for a while.
