What the Railways can do is construct a new station altogether, which comprises Platform no 7 and 8, and call it Shimpoli.
Western Railway (WR) can run trains to both destinations Borivli and Shimpoli. And both these stations can be inter-connected.
Commuters living in the south-west region of Borivli can board trains from Shimpoli.
This will help reduce commuter traffic and make travelling more comfortable for residents of Borivli.
No longer will the railways have to divert trains, as they can start a new services from Platforms 7 and 8.
