Making sense of the good, bad and often strange trending topics online

It's not over yet

An 89-year-old American radio broadcaster called Harold Camping managed to annoy a lot of people over the weekend after predicting that the Raptureu00a0-- or end of the world, in Christian theologyu00a0-- would occur on May 21. Naturally, by May 22, timelines were clogged by people thinking up new ways of insulting Camping. In the words of one wise woman: 'A wrong prediction again! If only we'd asked Paul the Octopus while we had the chance!'

Clash of the Titans
Two tycoons became surprise trending topics following Ratan Tata's alleged remarks about why Mukesh Ambani needed to live in a billion-dollar home. He later clarified his comments, but that didn't stop someone called Ramesh Srivats from making this cheesy statement: 'Anil and Mukesh should now join hands and attack Ratan Tata. We can then have a Tata BhaiBhai battle.' A more apt response came from a certain Bhupinder:
'Philanthropy is foreign to the Indian psyche. I hope Bill Gates is reborn in India.'

Arrested development
Sachin Pilot was arrested on his way to what appears to be everyone's favourite village these days, Bhatta-Parsaul. Cynics responded by saying 'one would think the universe's secrets are hidden in the village, what with all the politicians heading there.'

The secret is out
If you're over 17, this may make no sense, but the brand Victoria's Secret began trending following reports that singer Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez were spotted at one of their stores. According to someone presumably not a Bieber fan: 'It just occurred to me that Selena may in fact be buying Victoria's Secret for Justin.'

The last word
Consider this, from actor Anupam Kher: "Learn to say, 'I don't know'. It will save you."
