In order to make the state’s guidelines for international and domestic travellers in sync with the Centre’s and not make them more inconvenient and stringent, the state has revised its November 30 order. Certain changes mean bringing down the number of Omicron high-risk countries and easing restrictions on domestic air travel.

Without going into the new restrictions or guidelines, one has to realise that this is a fluid situation and guidelines and rules are in flux, as the on ground situation demands. People are mature enough to understand that change is the only constant during the pandemic, especially when the Omicron variant is bringing so much uncertainty into our lives again.

This paper and this edit space has highlighted how people suffered because the ‘frenemies’, as they are dubbed, are taking potshots at one another. Now, as we digest the Omicron news which  may sound conflicting, we do not need the Centre and state at loggerheads, compounding problems and adding to the quandary people, especially those with emergency travel plans find themselves in.

For a while at least, we need both party spokespersons to suspend their routine bashing and concentrate on assuaging trepidation, along with bringing unity to announcements.

In an information-centric world, there is an absolute avalanche of communication and people may not quite know what to make of it. Think about your harried and worried people, instead of continuing the sometimes entertaining but more often enervating verbal exchange that is not needed for a populace already on the brink.
