There should be no stopping our race to get all vaccinated in the battle against Covid-19. ‘Get vaccinated’ should be our war cry and the syringe with the vaccine should be our arsenal, that is what the citizenry pushing for vaccination are saying.

There seemed to be a three-pronged reason for why a section in Dharavi was not taking the vaccine, said a report. First up were the vaccine wary, who seemed to be afraid of side effects. This should be tackled with an extensive information campaign, banners, posters, even vaccine ambassadors who can spread the word about the jab outweighing any kind of drawbacks.
There were those who claimed that they simply did not have the time to go and take even the first shot. This must stop and time has to be made to go and take the shot. The people have to make the time themselves. Employers need to give their employees time to go and take the jab, if there is some problem or obstacle. It is like giving employees time off to go to the polls; make it mandatory. Moreover, we have to see that people themselves are motivated enough to go and take the jab. When one is motivated then it goes without saying that one will find or make the time to take the jab. Let us see that this comes atop the priority pyramid; so no time is no excuse.
There was also the reason that people did not have documents to go and take the jab. That too can be worked with, for if one does not have an Aadhaar card, one can walk into a centre with another identification and talk to officials there. Local leaders and ward-level officials should have representatives helping persons without papers.
A large number of people in certain slum pockets are without jabs for these primary reasons. Annihilate these excuses to ensure all have access to the best arms in the virus war.
