The 17-year-old boy who killed 15 people in a gun rampage in south-west Germany on Wednesday had warned on an Internet chatroom the night before that he would go to his old school and do something big the following day.
Tim Kretschmer shot nine pupils and three teachers at the Albertville secondary school in Winnenden on Wednesday morning. He killed another three people before shooting himself.
That morning, Kretschmer went to the school at about 9.30 am and began firing. Police said the former school table-tennis champion wore a black police uniform. He also put on a gas mask.
He went first to classroom 10D, his old class before he flunked out of school with no qualifications.
It was in there that he fired most bullets, going in and out of the room three times and asking his chilling question, "Are you all dead yet?"
Women targeted
Yesterday evening it emerged that Kretschmer had deliberately targeted women and girls. All three teachers were women and eight of the children were girls. More than a dozen other teachers and pupils were injured.
