A former US Marine, Pastor Ken Pagano of New Bethel Church of Kentucky has asked handgun owners to attend this service, on June 27, openly wearing their sidearm.

But the move will be symbolic. The firearms must be unloaded.

Pagano will also invite gun shop owners and hold a presentation about the right of Americans to own firear-ms, including military-style automatic machine guns.

Some fear the Obama administration wants to ban the sale of automatic weapons.
The executive director of the Kentucky Council of Churches said most churches "allow for arms to be taken up under certain conditions".
