Hasan Suroor, a 65-year-old UK-based journalist has been arrested after a sting operation by Unknown TV, a vigilante group
London: Unknown TV, an anti-paedophilia group, has posted a Facebook video in which it confronts UK-based journalist Hasan Suroor after he apparently travelled from Chelsea to Deptford in London on November 9 to meet a 14-year-old girl, according to media reports.

Members of the vigilante group accosted Suroor with details of his conversations with the girl. According to Unknown TV, Suroor’s conversations with the girl supposedly indicated that he had arrived for a sexual encounter.
Unknown TV also recorded a video of their encounter with Suroor. Members of the group can be heard telling Suroor about details of his conversations with the girl, which, according to them, purportedly indicated he had arrived for a sexual encounter.
Suroor can be heard saying, “Look I tried to tell her that… I’m very old. I didn’t say I want to have sex, I said I leave it up to you entirely.” He repeatedly asks the members of the group to “forgive” him and says, “I’m not denying (it)...can you let me go with a warning?”
It is not clear if one of the members of Unknown TV posed as the girl whom Suroor was in touch with. In the video, Suroor does not deny that he had conversations of a sexual nature with the girl. However, the vigilante group did not release the alleged conversations between Suroor and the girl.
Confirming the arrest, a spokesperson for the British Transport Police said, “A 65-year old man has been charged with meeting a child following sexual grooming, and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 11,” he said.
“Hasan Suroor, of Sloane Avenue, Kensington and Chelsea, was arrested by British Transport Police officers at Deptford Bridge DLR station on Monday, 9 November.”
