Amputee walked around for five months with two left feet after hospital blunder
Patrick Morrison (76), an amputee has ended up with two left feet after a hospital blunder.
Morrison needed a false limb fitted after he lost his right foot when it became infected with a foot infection.
But false limbs expert Malcolm Griffiths mistakenly fitted an artificial left foot to his right leg. Astonishingly,u00a0 Morrison walked about on it for about five months before he realised something was wrong.
Morrison, from Bathgate, West Lothian, said, "It was a big surprise. My wife took off the protective sock and we saw that I had two left feet."
Morrison's ordeal began when he got an ulcer on his big toe, which refusedu00a0 to go away. Eventually it had to be amputated.
He was given a false foot at the Edinburgh Astley Ainslie Hospital. "Thankfully, the hospital got it sorted out," said Morrison.
Friffiths was formally struck off the register today after he admitted a string of allegations.
