At least one person was killed and several others injured today in an explosion near the office of a UN organisation in a high-security area in the heart of the federal capital.

At least one person was killed and several others injured today in an explosion near the office of a UN organisation in a high-security area in the heart of the federal capital.


The blast occurred near the gate of the World Food Programme office in Sector F-8. TV news channels reported at least one person was killed and several others were injured in the blast. UN officials and people in nearby buildings were asked to evacuate the area.


The World Food Programme office is located a short distance from Zardari House, the private residence where Pakistan People's Party chief Asif Ali Zardari lived before becoming President, some police offices and the district administration and the district courts.
