Lahore: In a knee-jerk reaction, authorities in Pakistan have clamped down on several schools that were operated by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Authorities ordered the schools shut on Friday.

The schools, mostly located in Pakistan’s Punjab province, were closed soon after the arrest of several JeM operatives. The JeM is suspected of having carried out the terror attack on Pathankot.
"Over a dozen people were arrested by officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department from the Jamiatul Nur seminary in the Daska area," said Rana Sanaullah, law minister of the Punjab province.
"Documents and literature have been confiscated and the premises has been sealed."
Most of the staff at the seminaries and the JeM offices have been arrested.
Sanaullah also confirmed that Masood Azhar, the chief of Jaish-e-Mohammed has been taken into ‘protective custody’ but refused to divulge any further details. He added that if found guilty, legal action would be taken against him.
