Vatican City: Britain's Queen Elizabeth II flew to Rome, accompanied by her husband the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip on April 3 to meet Pope Francis for the first time.

The visit is also the 87-year-old monarch's first foreign trip since 2011.

Dressed in lilac and wearing her trademark hat decorated with flowers, the British queen and her husband arrived at the Vatican for their meet with the pontiff.
