Lahore: A senior professor at the Punjab University in Lahore has been suspended for committing a “grave mistake” of not showing PoK as part of Pakistan.

Abida Nasreen, assistant professor at the university's Institute of Education and Research, has been suspended for three months, the varsity's spokesman Khurram Shahzad said. Shahzad said action under the Punjab Employees Efficiency Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) has been initiated against her for the mistake.

“Grave mistake”
A workshop was organised at IER’s Waheed Shaheed Hall on September 4 by the Department of Secondary Education. In a flex, which was printed according to the theme of the workshop, a ‘wrong’ map of Pakistan without showing geographical boundaries of Kashmir was mistakenly published due to negligence.

Vice Chancellor Mujahid Kamran on Monday took notice of the publication of a ‘wrong’ map of Pakistan on a flex related to the workshop.

“Abida Nasreen is responsible for the wrong publication of the map and we have ordered an investigation into this,” Kamran said.

Probe ordered
The incident is being probed and the VC has ordered a departmental inquiry that will be completed within 15 days.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also taken notice of the incident and has sought a report from the VC.
The spokesman of the university said that the flex was designed and printed by Superior Printing Press and Board Makers, Multan Road.
