Names one of her new pup Gryffindor
The secret’s out. Queen Elizabeth II may be a Harry Potter fan, after a member of her staff revealed that she named her new puppy after a character from the children’s books.

The 86-year-old monarch, a longtime dog lover, personally names all of her dogs and chose the moniker Gryffindor for her new Labrador puppy, her kennelman revealed.
In the successful children’s books, Gryffindor is the house founded by Professor Godric Gryffindor, which Harry Potter belongs to at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Alan Goodship, helps breed working dogs on the queen’s Sandringham estate, Norfolk, and gave an insight into her relationship with the Labradors and Cocker Spaniels on the estate for a special Diamond Jubilee tribute edition.
The queen’s retired gun dog trainer and former head keeper was also interviewed, and told the magazine, “Her Majesty is a real countrywoman.”
