Rod Stewart is set to become a father for the eighth time, at the age of 66, the rocker said.
His photographer-model wife Penny Lancaster (39), discovered she was pregnant in June while celebrating their third wedding anniversary in Italy, near the place where they got married.
The couple have a four-year-old son Alastair.
"We were thrilled and delighted to be able to tell Alastair that he was going to be the big brother to a little baby, expected just before Mummy's 40th birthday," they said.
Lancaster, who is three months pregnant, turns 40 in March, while Stewart becomes 66 in January.
The baby will be the former Faces frontman's eighth child.
His eldest, daughter Sarah Streeter (46), was conceived when Stewart was 18, and was adopted. He has two children, Kimberly (30) and Sean (29), with his actress-model first wife Alana Hamilton.
The singer has a daughter, Ruby (23), from his relationship with former model Kelly Emberg.
His second wife, model Rachel Hunter, is mother to Renee (18), and Liam, 15.
Lancaster recently said of their attempts to have another child, "Touring and running around interferes with things but we're still trying and have high hopes. Though once you get over 35 it takes longer." Stewart said he was not anxious about being an older dad, saying it helped keep the lifestyle in check.
