The website, Cozycot, initially planned to reach a target of 1,000 bras, but has now far exceeded expectations.
The bras will benefit young women in orphanages and slums in Bali and Cambodia.
Cozycot founder Nicole Yee, who launched the three-week campaign, was surprised by the response. She says, "The overwhelming response from women is really heartening. It shows that women in Singapore will not think twice to band together for a good cause."
Out of the 10,000 donated bras, over 400 were new,u00a0 complete with price tags. The drive was undertaken by setting up bra-bins in shopping malls where well-wishers could donate as many garments to the cause.
Cozycot, a website-based community and store deals with women's products, events and fashion, and has 1,50,000 members.
"Being a woman's website, it is only natural that Cozycot helps other women. We will organise programmes which will provide an avenue for women to do something meaningful for others," said Yee.
