Two suicide bombers struck near an American military base here, hours after US President Barack Obama left following a visit to the Afghan capital, officials said.
The attacks came after Obama left Kabul following a previously unannounced visit during which he signed a strategic partnership agreement with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai. Militants launched suicide attacks early Wednesday near the American military base located in the eastern part of the Afghan capital.

Two suicide bombers died in the explosions and Afghan police exchanged gunfire with militants hiding in a building close to the US base in the Pule Charki area, a security official told Xinhua. Several explosions and gunshots took place near the American military base.
