Brussels: Three persons were killed and 40 others injured when a passenger train collided with a freight train near Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse in Belgium, officials said.

The accident occurred on the line linking Namur and Liege in the east of the country, close to the municipality of Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse.
The passenger train slammed into the back of the goods train on the same track at high speed, Frederic Sacre, spokesman for Belgian railway infrastructure manager Infrabel, told reporters.
Earlier, reports said the accident, that occurred in the town of Hermalle-sous-Huy on Sunday, left at least 30 people injured, Xinhua news agency reported.
