A Japanese toddler has survived after his father attempted to strangle him and then threw him from the 10th floor of a Tokyo apartment.
Police say the one-year-old's father admitted trying to kill the boy, first by strangling him and then by throwing him from the 10th floor balcony of their apartment.
The child landed in a shrub below, and police say he was found conscious and crying, but without any life-threatening injuries.
The family says the father had recently become stressed from work. The 37-year-old will now undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he was mentally sound at the time of the incident.
