London: Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) yesterday claimed responsibility for the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, that killed 14 people, saying that two of its followers carried out Wednesday’s attack.

The terror group’s statement came in an online radio broadcast on a social services agency party in San Bernardino. “Two followers of Islamic State attacked several days ago a centre in San Bernadino in California,” the group’s daily broadcast al-Bayan said.
The agency said that Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik, the couple suspected of conducting the shooting, were followers of ISIS. The FBI is investigating the attack as “an act of terrorism”.
The FBI believes Tashfeen Malik posted a statement on Facebook using an alias. Sources close to the investigation confirmed that they had found a message of support to ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi but did not explain how they knew Malik had made the post.
