In her TikTok video with more than 9.1 million views, a North Carolina woman named Ashley Class reveals that the ‘monsters’ her daughter heard were a swarm of 50,000 honeybees living in their walls. After eight months of hearing her daughter constantly speak about the monster sounds, Class bugged her house, later revealing the buzzing nightmare.

From the perspective of her thermal camera, the video starts with a footage of her daughter’s bedroom, depicting a large hole in the wall, a humongous orange swathe created by the hive’s heat, and thousands of bees swarming around the room. Class followed it up with a few more videos, revealing the extraction process and experience, especially for the intrigued commenters on her video.

“Day 1: Beekeeper removed 20,000 bees and 100+ lbs (45kg) of honeycomb from the wall. He found the queen and can safely take the hive to a new home,” Ashley mentions in her follow-up video. In a subsequent video, Ashley updated another batch of 20,000 bees’ extraction.

When followers asked her about not noticing such a sprawling insect metropolis being erected under her roof, she replied: “It only takes a couple of bees and an unseen swarm to become a colony of 50,000 bees.” In one of her posts, she also described how the bees had built a 100-plus-pound honeycomb over the past eight months which made it necessary to put them in a triple-layered trash bag.

Unfortunately, that was only the tip of the insect invasion iceberg: In another clip, she described how they found yet another colony with a queen within the walls, which required yet another extraction. While they finally managed to evict the swarm, the infestation left their house dripping with honey like a giant biscuit.

Your dye job can get you arrested

Everything is political, and somehow it includes your hair colour. Earlier this week, a Russian man seeking help after an attack faced further scrutiny from officials over his hair-do. Stanislav Netesov was ambushed by unknown assailants at a bus stop in the center of Moscow as he was returning from work. The assault left him injured. The assailants also stole his phone.

Netesov believed the Ministry of Internal Affairs would relieve his plight, but upon discovering his hair-colour, which they found to be representative of the Ukrainian flag, the officials charged him with ‘discrediting’ the army, an offense punishable by law.

The police promptly drew up a report of his supposed crime, diligently took his fingerprints, and summoned him to the military registration and enlistment office to, “force him to “kiss his native soil in the trenches.” Between 2022-23, Russia passed 8,628 protocols under the Code of Administrative Offences article on “discrediting” the army.
