Cyclone Nisarga nears as Mumbai braces for 'rarest of rare' storm

Cyclone Nisarga is expected to make a landfall near Mumbai and its adjacent areas on June 3. According to the IMD, a deep, low pressure depression that was formed in the Arabian Sea intensified into a severe cyclonic storm that hit the coastal areas of northern Maharashtra and southern Gujarat between Harihareshwar in Raigad and Daman. Cyclone Nisarga: Heavy rains lash Mumbai as cyclone passes by

Cyclone Nisarga made a landfall at Alibaug leaving a trail of destruction in the area. While the coastal town bore the brunt of the cyclonic storm Nisarga, the cyclone didn't do much damage to life and man-made structures in Mumbai, though hundreds of trees collapsed across the city.
